Fast-Track Program
Age Group: 14+ years
Description:
After completing the Start Line course, participants age 14+ who wish to continue riding with Connie Cycling enroll in the Fast-Track program. This is a series of three sessions; each session is over the course of six-weeks. Instruction involves a progressive curriculum and educates the athlete at a faster pace compared to the Peloton.
Fast-Track lessons are intended to give athletes a strong set of skills and solid start in cycling by teaching them the techniques necessary for group riding and competition.
Athletes will be given a performance score at the end of each 6-week Fast-Track session. Performance will be evaluated for bike handling and riding technique such as pace line, passing, changing position in a pack, and more. This scoring/rating system will provide both coaches and athletes a consistent means for rating ones current cycling ability as an athlete moves forward and beyond Fast-Track.
Upon completing the Fast-Track program, athletes will have a whole new set of riding skills and understanding of competitive track cycling. At this point, it is our intention to help students navigate through the options for continued riding and competition. Connie Cycling has its own club and racing division of the organization which Fast-Track grads are welcome to explore. There are also many other cycling clubs and organizations in Southern California. CC coaches will help you decide is which organization is best suited for you.
Fast-Track 1 and 2 take place during Connie Cycling time blocks at the velodrome. Fast-Track 3 takes place during "Open Training" sessions at the velodrome, and therefor requires an "Open Training" fee be paid directly to the velodrome.
Fees: Registration $70.00/per 6 week session.
Pre-requisite:
Session Dates: January 2012 - March 2012
Fast Track-1 classes will take place Wednesday’s 5-7pm. Athletes must be prepared to commit to 6-consecutive weeks of practice for each of the Fast-Track sessions for which they enroll. To achieve the best results, we recommend students complete all three sessions in the series.
With the exception of the first Fast-Track session in 2012, which begins January 18th, specific class dates will be assigned to athletes after registration.
