Getting Started with the LA84 Track Cycling Program

                            Picture
Connie Cycling wants to give parents and kids the resources they need to participate in the sport of cycling.  Cycling is not a school sport which can make it difficult for you to know how to get started or find quality programs and an organization that you can trust.  This is where Connie Cycling comes in - we're here for athletes and their families from the very first pedal stroke to as far as the athlete wants to ride.  With CC, kids have the opportunity to learn, develop and go from beginner to top level competitor within one organization -- an organization that stands for nothing less than excellence in sport and life.

Connie Cycling is proudly supported by the LA84 Foundation - Legacy of the 1984 Olympic Games and The Home Depot Center.

"The LA84 Foundation Connie Cycling program has allowed my children to intensely pursue sporting excellence within a nurturing environment that stresses the ideals of true sportsmanship."  Gary Woods, Parent and Superintendent of Schools, San Marino Unified School District, CA

Getting your young athlete started in cycling and in the LA84 Foundation CC Program is easy.  The point of entry into the program is through the LA84 Start Line class. At the bottom of this page you'll find an overview explaining how to sign up and some helpful things to know before the first class.

Would you like to ride at the velodrome too?  Cycling is a great family sport and we encourage parents to ride.  Connie Cycling offers group workouts for parents of CC athletes.  Click Here >

The first thing you'll want to do is sign up for the Start Line class. The Start Line is a series of classes and is considered the point of entry into the LA84 Foundation Connie Cycling Program.

"I am so impressed with the state-of-the-art facility, the cycling program elements, the confidence-building it generates, the intense workout it provides, and most importantly the high level of instruction that Connie and her team provide the kids.  Connie's program is a true gem in our community.  I highly recommend Connie Cycling to any parent." K. Lucker, Parent

How to sign up and what to expect at the Start Line Class.

First, read the detailed information about the LA84 Foundation CC program and the Start Line Class.  After reviewing the information, simply go to the Sign Up page of this website and submit an online registration form for the participant.  The Start Line Class is Free, however a $10 refundable deposit is required when you register.  The $10 deposit will be returned to you after the last class as long as your child has attended all classes in the session.

No equipment necessary.  We provide the track bike and helmet so there's no need for you to purchase any special equipment to get started. Cycling shorts and jerseys are not required and not necessary for the Start Line class.  Just make sure the athlete wears comfortable shorts and t-shirt and closed toe shoes.  No long pants please, as the pant leg may get caught in the chain, tear, and cause riders to fall.

At the first Start Line class a Connie Cycling coach will greet you introduce athletes and parents to the program and be available to answer questions.  Should you have any questions after the initial meet & greet, you may contact us via email or phone or speak to a coach at the velodrome.  A coach will be accessible at the top of the track before and after classes.

At the last class athletes will have an opportunity to sign up for the LA84 Foundation Connie Cycling Peloton.  The Peloton is for athletes wanting to continue riding with Connie Cycling beyond the Start Line class.  Again, Connie Cycling coaches and representatives will be accessible at this final Start Line class to answer any questions you may have about the athlete and his or her cycling development within the CC organization.

PARTICIPANT WAIVER.   All participants must complete a Waiver before they will be allowed on a bike.  Waivers will be kept on file through December of the current year. A parent signature is required on waivers for participants under age 18.  You will find a printable Waiver to download located at the bottom of the Sign Up page of this website.  We appreciate Start Line students mailing us the deposit and signed Waiver in advance of the first day of class.
